Tigresses have comfortably taken the driving seat in the OG Issa Southern Region Netball League (SRNL) following their two impressive victories at Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC) on Sunday.

They deposed Woget Stars from the top with a 77-28 thrashing before fortifying their stand at the top with a 100-22 triumph over Shizaella Queens.

Tigresses now lead the 13-team league with 24 points from eight-straight victories while Stars are second with 21 points from nine games.

Tigresses coach Charles Mhango said they played against difficult and much improved teams. He said save for Tigresses’ vast experience, they match with their opponents in terms of strength and skill.

“It was not easy to win the two games and top the log table. We played against teams that are now becoming difficult to beat. In the past, these two teams could not score 10 baskets against us, but now they are able to plant in more than 20,” he said.

Defending champions Diamonds and MTL Queens are yet to be given fixtures because they contributed key players to the Malawi Queens squad that participated in the Fast5 Netball Series in New Zealand recently.
